Treasure of God

"In Him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge..." (Col. 2:3)

There are those who have entered the very chambers of His holiness and touched the heart of God. They have walked with Him (Gen 5:24), talked with Him (Exo 19:19) and heard His voice (Gen 15:1). Some have even spoken with Him " face to face" (Exo 33:11). They were changed men, never again the same.

Those who respond to the call of God's heart will hear from heaven and enter into God's purposes for the closing days of this age. It is not to the mighty or the strong that God will entrust His treasures, but to those who will seek "the hidden riches of secret places" (Isa 45:3). God is looking for those who will not be satisfied with the blessing, but will ever long for the inner courts of the Most High. He seeks a people who, like David, will determine in their hearts not to "come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, until I find a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob" (Psa 132:3-5).

God seeks seekers. "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him" (2 Chron 16:9). "God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God" (Psa 53:2). He is searching for those who will heed the call to draw near and not delay.

God told the sons of Zadok, who kept the sanctuary, that their ministry to Him would be their inheritance. He said that they were not to be given any possession in Israel, for "I am their possession" (Ezek 44:28). Theirs was a special service, for they ministered to God. It is difficult for us to understand that God should require the ministry of a man. But we have been made in His image, with the capacity for fellowship with Him. "They shall come near to Me to minister unto Me, and they shall stand before Me to minister unto Me ... they shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near to My table, to minister unto Me (Ezek 44:15, 16).

God searches today for those who will make Him their single desire, who will say with David that "the Lord is the portion of mine inheritance" (Psa 16:5). They will be His special possession, for "the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure" (Psa 135:4).

Jesus told His disciples to "sell all" for "a treasure in the heavens that faileth not ... for where your treasure is, there will you heart be also" (Luk 12:33, 34). Those who find God as their Treasure will be a treasure unto Him: "And they shall be Mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels" (Mal 3:17). "And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of His people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an emblem upon His land" (Zech 9:16).
